Hi. My name is Stacey Hedges, and I’ve been a client of Oculus Wealth Management for about 18 months. I’m looked after by Mark Daunter.
I was in the process of trying to sell my business, so I wanted to know what I should do with the finances after I’d sold my business. I needed some advice on investment tax and things like that.
The challenge that I was facing was knowing the best way to manage my finances after the sale of a business, and that’s why I went to Oculus in the first place.
Oculus Wealth was recommended to me by a friend. He’s also an accountant, and he said, “I would definitely trust these people with looking after your finances.” That was great, because I really trusted this friend, and I know that he knows about money, so it was really important to me to have a recommendation.
When I had my first meeting with Mark Daunter, I felt very comfortable with him. He explained things in layman’s terms. I felt he was very trustworthy, and he didn’t try and do the hard sell, so that made me feel really comfortable.
Oculus is very efficient, which I like. If I call them or ask for some help, they’re pretty quick to get back to me, and I just feel they’re really trustworthy, which I like.
Originally, I was a bit worried about my financial future, and I couldn’t work out the forecasting and things. Mark has done that for me, so it’s made me really relaxed. He’s helped me work out my annual spending and how much I could give to my children and things like that, which I found really difficult to do on my own.
When I think of Mark, the words that I use to describe him are trustworthy and knowledgeable. He is very knowledgeable about different markets and different things that you can do with your money, and he also uses very clear, simple language to explain things to me, which I like. I have found that really helpful.
The best thing about working with him is that I can ring him and ask him any questions, and he doesn’t make me feel stupid. He’s very accessible.
One of the best bits of advice I’ve been given is, “There’s no rush. Don’t make quick decisions; we can think about things for a while.” I think that’s been really helpful because I felt like I needed to make decisions very quickly and he said, “There’s no rush to do anything.” So, that’s been really good.
I have already recommended Mark to a friend who’s in a very similar position to me and is lacking in confidence about finances and things. I said, “He will hold your hand and talk you through it really clearly.” So, hopefully, she’ll be using Oculus in the near future.
