Hi, my name’s Sara Nathan. I’ve been a client of Mark Daunter for many, many years, and of course, I went with him when Oculus Wealth Management started because I had worked with him for ages before that.
Quite a few years ago, not long after my father died, we needed some advice. My brother, my mother, and I all needed some wealth management advice. Mark Daunter was recommended to me by local solicitors, and we’ve been with him for ever so long since then. He’s helped us throughout the different stages of all our wealth management needs.
When I first spoke to Mark, it was because I’m not very good at financial management, and I’m also not terribly interested in it. So, I wanted somebody I could trust completely, who would give me sensible and reasonably conservative advice that was wholly legit. Because I do things in the public sector and my brother is a magistrate, we needed to be above board but also well-advised, and we thought that Mark gave us that enormously well.
I first heard about Mark through a solicitor who was also based in Guildford. We needed advice, and we had a solicitor who had already advised my father; they put us in touch, and it worked really well.
Mark has been able to help us with, first of all, our inheritance from our father and the money we already had, and then with my mother’s growing dementia and lack of capacity; he helped with that. Then he moved us in our financial management very successfully to start with and then when it wasn’t so successful, he moved us again, and we trust him to give us the right advice. Finally, for us, when my mother sadly died in January of this year, we’ve had to deal with probate and all the stuff that goes with it, and he’s helped us through that as well.
I find working with Mark and his team at Oculus Wealth very supportive and very responsive. And because I trust what he advises, basically, if he says, “Do this,” pretty much my brother and I will just say, “Fine, that’s what you’ve advised.” We’ve been doing that now for about a decade, maybe longer, and so far, I don’t think he’s got anything monumentally wrong. So, our trust has built, and we’ve become reliant on his advice, but also very friendly.
The best thing about working with Mark is that I think he has my best interests at heart. He knows what I want to achieve, and he does his very, very best to make sure that we do it without making a big fuss about it.
I feel my financial future is reasonably stable and settled. I don’t think he’s going to advise me to do either very adventurous or illicit things, so that’s good, and I can feel confident that I’ve got a future planned. He takes into account that I’m not as young as I was, and we will need to think forward about that without making me feel oppressed and on the verge of the grave.
The words I would use to describe Mark are reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, friendly, and engaging. We like talking to him.
I think the best piece of advice Mark has given us is not to worry, to have a little cushion in a bank account, and then just to get on with it and not to let your life be driven more than it has to be by your finances.
I’m here because I would recommend Mark and Oculus Wealth Management; otherwise, why would I be doing this video? I do it because we’ve worked with him for years, maybe a decade or more; he’s never given us bad advice, he’s never given us risky advice, and he seems to have our financial security at the forefront of his mind when he’s talking to us. There must be many other people who think like that, but when he’s with us, we think he’s got our best interests at heart.
